Hallelujah EU Preorderers!

No more tears now blue hands man person…

Don’t sad, put on a happy face!

Were you quite depressed when you found out that the US preoderers got early access from 17th onwards while we EU’s had to wait till the 20th of May for the 3 day bonus?

Well wipe you’re tears away sister, because on the official site of AoC (here), Funcom have just anounced that registration has just opened for the EU pre-orderers (I know that’s not a word :p) has opened, so everyone go to here to type in you’re preorder codes while supplies last. Run like the wind people, basically. Unfortunately for me, I prordered from Game.co.uk (here) I’m going to get sent the mail on the 10th. Hopefully between now (6th May) to the the 10th the supplies will not vanish.

More importantly than the registration page being opened to pre-order keys, As I mentioned earlier in the post, Us EU-ians get the 17th May preoder like the US-ians do. Now what this means, that the actual game doesn’t release on the 20th (like the americans) it’s still at the time of writing being released and sent to everyone on the 23rd. This means that the 3 day preorder now is the 6 day preorder.

One slight draw back, is that if you do manage to level up to 40 in 6 days or less, you will have to wait till you get the actual game to be able to clame the Mammoth or Rhino. I know, what a shame. QQ. Unfortunately for me I wouldn’t have the time to play for 10+ hrs a day but there are some people out there who are weaping into their Age of Conan themed pillows right now.

Another point, is seeing as you now have the 6 days of preorder goodness, Funcom have removed the level cap that had planned (I’m guessing level 20 ish) as they don’t want players waiting around for a few days bored out their faces.

So it’s good news for European players and from today (6th) there’s only 11 days left to wait.

  1. I found your blog a day or two ago – very nice job so far!

Do you know how preorder customers will get their AoC clients on the 17th? Any pointers to where there’s discussion of that subject?

  2. Well at the moment I know that the Registration page is open, so as soon as you get your key, for the preorder, go to here http://register.ageofconan.com/
and type in your code. You’ll make an account and I think that near to the 17th, you can start downloading the client (for a fee of 5 Euros), then at 5 PM gmt on the 17th the doors will open. I hope I’ve helped.

I hope I’ve helped you Gary. Personally I think that Funcom are doing a shoddy job of this preorder business. Ah well, we’ll see what happens on the day I suppose.

  3. Sweet, that helps a lot – thanks!

I preordered over this past weekend and set up my account on the registration site. I don’t feel qualified to comment on Funcom’s handling of the preorder process – this is the first game I have ever preordered – although there really ought to be a short FAQ on the preorder account site telling us what to expect; it’s simply not reasonable to expect all your customers to root around on the forums trying to find answers.

  4. The whole shenanigans of the Age of Conan preoder, especially in the EU, have been quite confusing. Multiple retailers displaying different release dates, Funcom aparently haven’t been talking much to the retailers and there are a lot of confused, unhappy customers. Where I preordered from, Game.co.uk, there was a lot of confusion about how the seller was listed on the official site. Many people wanted the Mammoth Mount (me included) wanted the 3 days preorder bonus. It appeared that Game.co.uk didn’t offer it, which is what Funcom said, but after a long time scowering the forums, I pieced together the information.
The way I see it, as long as everyone gets what they payed for I’m happy. The problems are hopefully behind us and now I’m hoping a for a good release.
